"Hi there,
I do not know if you have already heard of this, but the amazing people from Amalgamated Dynamics are pledging on kickstarter.com to create a sci-fi/horror film only with practical fx monsters, no cgi, to celebrate the art form and encourage fellow special effects artists and show the public what practical fx and animatronics are capable of nowadays. The project was created by Creature FX Designer Alec Gillis and the team includes Pat McClung , Robert Skotak, Dennis Skotak and many more renowned fx artists.
Now the reason I am telling you this is because their kickstarter has not yet reached their funding goal! So they need all the help they can get, and therefore I am asking you if you could perhaps promote their project in a journal to help them fund their movie. It would be a shame if an all practical fx movie would be unable to be produced, especially in a time where it seems that practical fx is considered to be worth less than cgi. It would be great if you could spread the word about their project.
Here is the link to the kickstarter project:
www.kickstarter.com/projects/1…Short info on the project:
What is Harbinger Down?
In the spirit of sci-fi/horror classics, Alien and The Thing, Harbinger Down is a tense, claustrophobic full-length creature film that will feature only practical Animatronic and Makeup Effects.
If you're a fan of the art of Animatronics and Makeup FX, you know that this technique is overlooked by the big studios. I'm hoping that you will help us change that by supporting this labor of love. I will write and direct and ADI co-founder Tom Woodruff, Jr. will produce.
Our company, Amalgamated Dynamics, will create the kind of Oscar caliber Creature Effects for which we are known."
So any support you can give this project would help a great deal. Thanks to all who can help!
